In Fuerzas y cuerpos [Forces and Bodies], photographer Paula Artés addresses the invisibility of the Civil Guard in Catalonia. The Civil Guard is a police force that in Catalonia is known to exist but never seen. This project evidences invisibility as a form of control: when these security bodies are invisible, they are operative, they are invisible in order to have control.

This is a security system applied around the world. In all places, invisibility is used as a control system. Fuerzas y cuerpos has been created with photographs of the spaces where they operate and work, their vehicles, archives, firing ranges, tools and offices, making visible the spaces to which citizens have no access. The book also includes a text by art curator Oriol Fontdevila combining experience, history and control theories to explain this situation.

Paula Artés (Molins de Rei, 1996) graduated in Photography and contemporary creation at Idep Barcelona. Her work is committed to bring into the open power structures. Her projects have been selected in Descubrimientos Photoespaña, Encontro de Artistas Novos and Encontro de fotografos, SCAN Photobooks, Sala d'Art Jove, Photogenic Festival, Unseen Dummy Award Amsterdam, FIFTijuana México and Viphoto, among others.
