**This title is only available in Spanish**The teaching career of American photographer Philip Perkis (1935–2025) was shaped over four decades at institutions such as Pratt Institute, Cooper Union, and the School of Visual Arts. In this volume, first published in 2001 by OB Press, the author distills his knowledge into reflections on visual perception, photographic exercises, and practical advice on teaching photography. The sharp and insightful observations in Teaching Photography: Notes Assembled aim to stimulate and inspire. Through them, Perkis champions photography as an autonomous form of artistic expression and raises a series of questions that invite reflection and open up debate, encouraging teachers and photographers alike to take risks. Devoid of images, the book prompts the reader to exercise the mind’s capacity to visualize—an essential tool in the art of making photographs.Philip Perkis began photography in the U.S. Air Force in 1957 while serving as B36 tail-gunner.
